The Brew is part of The Kerry Hotel’s restaurant complex. The hotel itself is located near Pudong airport, which makes this a great stop if you’re in the area for an early flight or on an overnight layover. On my visit, I was quite pleased with the lineup of beers I tried. They aren’t going to be IPA and usually feature some light lagers and ciders, but keep in mind they are also functioning as a hotel lounge and bar. Despite that, everything I tried was good, including the IPA, and the range of “Brewmaster’s Choice” beers were all unique.
I’d recommend getting the sample flight (around 100rmb) or going during happy hour (3-8pm) when all beers are 2-for-1. Otherwise, at around 80rmb per pint, this place might hurt your wallet a bit. In their defense, most beers are poured into a proper pint glass or larger, unlike many brewpubs in Shanghai which only serve a 400ml “pint.” Also, call ahead if you want to sit in the brewpub itself, as it is frequently reserved for events. Don’t worry though, the other lounges in the hotel serve the entire beer lineup as well.
